Save Your Money !!!
I was totally disgusted with this hotel ! I originally reserved a sunset villa parking lot side however they upgraded me to a waterfront room. Thought this was wonderful until my daughter and I saw cockroaches near the kitchen !! The sheer curtains in the bedroom were dirty ! I immediately (11:00pm) spoke to the the front desk clerk and she arranged for us to be moved to the other end of the hotel ( away from the bar/restaurant area . This room, although no cockroaches, was equally disgusting . Carpet was not swept , food on the floor ! We had to keep our socks and shoes on or our feet were black ! The sheer curtains in the bedroom were shredded to pieces . We again notified the front desk . The staff was congenial and we were reimbursed for 2 nights stay although we were there for 7 . I would never recommend this hotel . The upkeep is awful ! It is an embarrassment to the Holiday Inn name !
My stay at Harbourside
As many times as Ive been to The Indian Rocks area I did not know about this resort. I learned of it because my girlfriend was Staying down at one of her boyfriends friends private condos here. The resort was impressive. If you book a room make sure to request a balcony with a nice view of the water park/water. The only public amenity missing was a hot tub to Enjoy. The room was nice although the walls were a little thin and it was easy to hear outside noise. Our room had a washer/dryer which was nice and convenient. They even provided some laundry soap. The only minor problem we ran into was the kitchen faucet stopped working which maintenance was on top of that. I was greeted by very friendly and accomodating staff. The resort is centrally located to many cafes and restaurants as well as the beach across the street. Perfect location! If and when I come back I would certainly visit here again!
Requested a refund after seeing the bathroom
We booked a two night stay here in March 2022. Checked in and smelled a funny smell as we walked in the room, musty smell. Just thought because it was older. Went to the bathroom and notified what looked like black mold coming from the top of the wallpaper and on some seams of the wallpaper, then saw the worst part, the wallpaper was pulling away from the wall down by the toilet and I pulled back what was pulled away and saw tons of black mold. I called the front desk and requested a refund which they did no problem. There is no way this hasn’t been noticed by hotel staff. I have four children snd didn’t want them sleeping in the room. I have stayed all over the county and never have experienced what I did in that bathroom. Totally unacceptable and I can’t believe this place was over $500 per night. We left with no place to stay, it was that bad. Places can be old and outdated but it seemed to me as they tried to cover the mold up with wallpaper. See the pictures. Room 143.
DO NOT STAY HERE!
DO NOT STAY HERE! My husband and I stayed here with another couple and after pulling our sheets down on the second night, discovered human feces on the sheets. When we went to the office, we were told that they had no clean sheets and were offered ONE blanket. I completely understand things are tough with staffing and COVID and having a daughter in the hospitality business try to let things go, but this is unacceptable...After finally speaking with Lori (the hotel manager) 5 days later, she said we were refunded one nights stay and that she could not give us a complete refund, because she could not verify when the sheets were soiled...I have never experienced something so gross and such lack of customer service! As stated in other reviews, this is a dated, dirty hotel that has posted pictures that do not represent its current state.
Stay Away, unless you don't mind old
We travel alot, and this place tops our list as worst place ever. We visited the hotel during Spring break 2021. Going through some pics from our 2021 trip to Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, we came across photos we took of this hotel. My trip advice, stay away. Photos on the website do not accurately depict the current state of the hotel. The only thing this place has going for it is its location. While the place may be connected to Splash Harbour Water Park and the Condos at Harbourside, this place is old, run down, flithy and in need of some maintenance and deep cleaning. Presuming that this place did not have many customers after the start of the pandemic, they could have used that time to do some upkeep. To begin with, the place was not cheap. The room we booked was the King Villa Loft Marina View. It has a king bedroom on the top floor that overlooks the bottom floor, the bathroom has a standup shower and hot tub, kitchen located on first floor with dining area, desk and sleeper sofa. Pictures on the website don't even match what the room actually looks like. The room rate was $544/night (without taxes). The first room we checked into smelled musty and moldy. We returned to the check in desk to complain. All desk attendant did was switch us with another guest who hadn't checked in yet. I did not take any photos of the first room but it was similar in lack of cleanliness to the next room we were given. See photos. The next room had the same odor, but not as potent. I'm thinking that their air conditioning filters needed to be changed or maybe it was just the combination of the funky smell from the carpet and the fish carcasses that were being tossed into the marina from the fishing charter boats returning with their catch for the morning. The room was not cleaned well, especially the bathroom that had mold in the shower. Certainly a little bleach would remedy the probelm. We actaully felt grossed out. The hotel is just old and is in need of some major updating. Because this was spring break, we could not find another place nearby that would accommodate our family. So we were stuck at this place that cost us $600/night for the next four nights. The next morning, we met the woman and child who got stuck with our original room at the front desk who was complaining about the pugnant odor coming from her room. They put her in a room near the check-in desk that must be the only updated room in the hotel. Might have been nice when it first opened, but the place is just begging to be have some updates. The two rooms we were just dated and beyond its life expectancy. I am typically not a fan of Holiday Inn but for what they were charging for this place, it should have been immaculately clean, and refurbished, but it was not. So, as a warning to those looking to stay at Indian Rocks Beach, the area is great and would highly recommend, but find another place to stay. The hotel staff did nothing to adjust my rate and told me that I would be penalized if I checked out early. We checked out early anyway and headed north to Clearwater. Once last thing, avoid the main at the booth outside the check in desk. He is trying to sell you tickets and time shares. His booth is a bit decieving because it reads "Guest Services". The guy was a menace and would not accept the phrase "not interested" or "no thank you" for an answer. Annoying and obnoxious to have to deal with that everyday of your stay. You really can't avoid him becuase he stands right in the central hallway, unless you take the elevator up from the garage.
